OMNIS HUMANITAS is an open invitation to discovery. The digital revolution is allowing film to transcend its genre and compete with printed media. The home video is gaining in influence in the technologically advanced cultures and its position has to be taken in consideration.

With one notable exception, the American movie industry, all other cinemas are almost entirely national.Therefore, it would be possible for someone to understand an entire cultural space using just the cinema as a research instrument.

One could attempt to define a civilization, a society or a population by the reflection of its elements into the films it has created. Although cinema is by nature subjective, images, music, gesture, posture or language could define elements of a culture that are not easily accessible to the senses when reading a book.

Filmmaking is a complex enterprise that cuts across the field of art, science, culture, politics, and history. The intention of OMNIS HUMANITAS is to bring forward films that could define entire cultures by their cinema.

Living in a multi-cultural, multi-racial environment, in a fast paced society, it is amazing to find out that many cinemas are barely represented. That is how the notion of OMNIS HUMANITAS came to life, as a distribution channel for films that otherwise will not make it into the mainstream. A bridge between cultures. A chance of defining a cultural identity for individuals of a certain national background living outside their home culture, and one for the world to discover it. This is the first attempt of its kind undertaken for the Romanian cinema.
